HealthInsite is an Internet-based gateway for quality-assessed health information provided by a broad range of approved information partners. Its purpose is to provide Australians with easy access to high quality information about health and wellbeing so that they can make more informed healthcare decisions.
HealthInsite was developed by the Department of Health and Ageing to meet the needs of a growing number of Australians who use the Internet to find health information. It is part of the Health Online agenda and is funded by the Australian Government.
You can now access over 12,000 information resources dealing with health issues such as asthma, pregnancy, arthritis, cancer, mental health, family relationships and fitness to name just a few.
Anyone with access to the Internet can access HealthInsite. If an Internet connection is not available at home, the Internet connection at the local library, school or Internet café can be used. Doctors or other health professionals with access to the Internet may be able to provide consumers with information from HealthInsite.
