About the program….Brief intervention counselling, with up to 3 visits initially, is provided by psychologists and mental health nurses at 3 rural locations: (Mt Barker, Gumeracha & Strathalbyn) The service is available to clients with acute mental health issues who live in the rural region of the AHDGP (see list below). Issues may include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, anger management and relationship problems. Please note: a mental health issue or problem differs from a mental illness and this distinction, whilst not always well defined, is made based on severity and duration of symptoms. A mental health problem often occurs in response to stressful life situations.
